Although it may sound a bit imaginary, the situation of prehistoric mythological unicorns rendezvous with cyber security futuristic teams is not imaginary anymore. These days we’ve just been notified about “ForeScout” – one more cyber security Israeli company who had joined the exclusive club of technology unicorns that crossed the one billion dollar valuation mark.
For Israel, a country with a population of eight million people, equivalent to New York city eight million population this is an outstanding achievement. The extremely entrepreneurial culture that’s present in Tel Aviv can not be denied. With more than thousand new startups founded each year, Israel’s startup nation has produced fantastic sources of innovation and world class technology companies.
Years 2015 and 2016 presented some even stronger acquisition wave, where US tech giants such as Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, Apple and Google went shopping in the “startup nation” arena in an impressive tour de force. One impressive and memorable acquisition happened where Google had acquired the Israeli Waze for $1.1Bn, giving a social data boost to its mapping business.
Post acquisitions, Tel Aviv startup scene has been decorated with all the above mentioned logos where Google, Apple, and Facebook have all set up engineering operations in Israel in order hire technically outstanding talents. Tel Aviv has become a serious Silicon Valley competitor where local venture capital funds are playing a major role in this game.
While Checkpoint, the firewall pioneer leads with a market capitalization of $16bn (April 2016, April), some medium sized companies as Mobileye, GetTaxi, Outbrain, IronSource, Outbrain, Similarweb, Conduit and Taboola are chasing towards this direction.
Besides these giants, there are new augmented reality, internet of things, mobile, cloud and bitcoin technology players companies who do not only promise but also deliver already. Although Israel has not created unicorns like Uber, Airbnb or Snapchat it still can be very proud with an impressive portfolio by a super small sized country.
The startup nation is currently boiling, promising, and interesting to watch. It is a chase against time of capturing a market share, finding an acquisition, defining a valuation, chasing a nonstop talents hunt and always looking for a technology breakthrough. It is a thriller movie, a drama with highs and lows and always fun to watch.

In today’s world throwing pillows might be considered conservative. Its absolutely not “angry birds”, “candy crush” or “grand theft auto”….But hey, its decorative, and after a say at work its also lots of fun. On top of this, if we can throw some pillows designed with the some city images it might be even more fun….
True love is remembering and sensing freedom. Memorial days are specific dates demanding everyone to halt and refresh their memory of their loved ones and bring up to the mind some intensive pictures and visuals of those who left the world behind.
Leveraging on the memories of our precious ones, we follow our plans and dreams with faith and imagination, we strive for greatness, directing our thoughts to prosperity and independence:
A skyline view of Tel Aviv center during sunrise focusing on the city business center and skyscrapers
Its the story of the land we walk upon, the price that those trailblazers had to pay, the independence which was unrealistic only moments ago.
Its the time to sense the freedom of thought, the independence of mind, to move forward and follow our dreams.
Taking the time to walk slowly across the shore, you can feel the wind blows all around, making music and bringing memories from many other places. And then at nightfall, when the drama begins, as the canopy of stars is being exposed with the enchanting royal blue sky, the whole scene has a dreamy quality, like a fairy tale, outside time.
Everything is relaxed, time becomes elastic and thoughts are full of appreciation. Reflections of love are all around, when the nature presents its finest moments:
Jaffa On Ice
Its the moments of appreciation, that moment of wonder and inspiration, its the time to forgive.
a serenade from the stars of a great human curiosity,
the summer season is heading safely to its end while the drums of war are banging loud in this middle east area. And we standing in a special place, and what are you gonna do here? What are you gonna dream here?
Life here is full of energy and full of optimism, everybody’s lovin’, everyone wants to be happy under these skies so blue.
Tel Aviv lookout
and here in Israel we stand on the Mediterranean shore, where all your fathers stood here before you, and I see your lips, and remember the summer kisses and the sun-burned hands I used to hold.
just listen to the man in the liquor store yellin’ “Anybody wanna drink before the war?”.
see you soon with more photos from Israel,
Well…this is NOT Hong Kong….but this point of view reminded me some images I’ve seen of Hong Kong. As you can see, a heavy fog that advanced from the Mediterranean sea into Tel Aviv – covered the city. Low clouds and heavy fog covering the city might be a regular scene in San Francisco, but it is very unusual to have such a scene in Israel. Fog is a rare phenomena in Israel and especially in Tel Aviv, as the city resides on the Mediterranean sea.
Tel Aviv under a cloud storm
Its not New York or Hong Kong, but with this image you can get some impression of the architecture of the Tel Aviv with its few towers and skyscrapers. These low clouds surrounded the major Reading power station in Tel Aviv, and advanced to the sport arena in the middle and the city new towers in the front of this image. The heavy fog started suddenly on a Thursday afternoon, where people working in the city skyscrapers observed huge low clouds coming from the sea, probably from Cyprus and slowly advancing into the city. For some people this was a shocking scene that was seen only in movies like “the day after“. The fog stayed all night across the shoreline and refused to go anywhere. In the next three days there was no wind, so these low clouds didn’t go anywhere.
